Abstract
Oral glucose tolerance test and continuous I.V. glucose loading test were performed on 22 normal children and 27 children with C.N.S. involvement, aged from 3 days to 14 years, to find out the influence of C.N.S. diseases on blood sugar and on appearance of urine sugar.
1. Fasting blood sugar level of 49 children was 80¡¾12mg per 10ml and there was no significant difference between normal children and the children with C.N.S. involvement.
2. The children with C.N.S. involvement, especially the unconscious patients, showed higher level of blood sugar in both oral and I.V. glucose tolerance test than the nomal children.
3. The children with C.N.S. involvement, a few cases showed glycosuria in spite of relatively low blood sugar level. Futher study will be necessary to know it¢¥s mechanism.
